Shot my first Glock 23 today

And loved it! Ive always been a 1911 guy but i gotta hand it to That 3rd gen Glock, It really impressed me with its trigger pull and the recoil was no where near what its been talked up to be. Next on my list is a Glock 32.

The G-23 is a great combination of size, power, and capacity. You can buy a G-32 barrel and just drop it in to shoot .357 Sig. With a Lone Wolf conversion barrel, you can shoot 9mm.

Thats the .357 Sig or the 10mm?

I shot the 10mm one time at the local range and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Not sure why, larger calibers don't generally bother me; I won a little shooting competition in Wichita using a Desert Eagle in .44 Mag. Something about the 10mm Glock just seemed, I don't know, bottom heavy for lack of a better way to put it.

G23 is .40 S&W.

Glad you liked it! I personally don't care for the .40...too snappy for me. Not necessarily painful, but definitely snappy. (I was using a G22, not a G23)

Glock 23

In any objective comparison I've made the Model 23 (Gen 3) is the "winner" in a carry pistol. In size, reliability, accuracy, capacity (I use the Model 22 mags with the plastic collar for a 16 round capacity .40 in a 9mm platform size), durability, purchase cost, re-sell price, parts availability, number of Armorer's (most any Gun Show has them), best sights (some don't like them but I love them!). The Model 23, in my opinion, stands above 99.9% of pistol's ever made in any objective criteria.

That being said, I prefer the 1911 for range shooting and have several. Nothing is as easy to shoot accurately as a 1911 (with Iron sights). I also have (or had) many pistols that I've tried to carry - yet I always go back to the Model 23. I have an H&K .40 that I like very well. However, it's lower capacity, heavier, bulkier, etc.etc. and I simply do not carry it. I've repeated this with many pistols. Of course "your mileage may vary" and it's only my opinion. There are many very good "carry" pistols available, and all would do in a pinch. But the Model 23 excels at things that are important to me.

Thanks for the responses. It was a buddy of mine who just got out of the marines and i got out my pieced together LW Commander and shot. In the last 6 months ive kinda warmed up to the idea of a glock the only reason i hadnt is ive held the 21 and didnt like it much in the hand or its size. But now that ive held and shot the 23 and the 32 is the same just different cartridge, then i def could see myself gettin one. Weights never affected me because im a big big guy and even the heaviest of pistols with a good belt i can make pretty much disappear. But i cant wait hopefully soon ill have one
