Never heard of a rifle barrel marked Apex, but that doesn't mean much. THere have been numerous barrel makers appear and disappear over the years. Some gunsmiths mark their own barrels, and Lord knows there have been trainloads of gunsmiths go out of business over the years.
There is a maker of paintball gun barrels called Apex.

APEX Rifle Company was founded by Sam May in Sunland (IIRC), CA. He moved the operation to Flagstaff, AZ in 1976. The current owner is Steve Webb. (Company is still located in Flagstaff)
Hope this helps.

Apex Rifle
Sam May Created his Company Apex Rifle in California, later moving it to Flagstaff Arizona. Just before he passed away he sold the Company to Steve Webb. Apex Rifle was a based on specs of the twist in the rifling. People from all over the world had their barrels custom made by Sam May and later by Steve Webb. I have lost contact with Steve, but last I heard he was still operating the company in Flagstaff as of last year 2010 under the name Apex Rifle. I am sure you can give him a call for the history on the weapons as he is a very knowledgable man.

Steve is still making barrels under Apex Rifle. He still owns the company and is still in Flagstaff.

I had two custom made revolvers back in the 1980s with Apex barrels on them. Both of those guns would shoot ten shots into a two inch group at 50 yards. They were top of the line back then. Don't know much about them anymore but at that time they were the best.
