Magazines for Remington R1 1911?

Will any full size 1911 magazines work for the Remington R1 1911? I have heard that Chip McCormick or Wilson Combat mags will work with any 1911. Are there "generic" 1911 magazines which will fit all 1911s?

AFAIK, any full-size/Gov't Model magazine will fit a 1911R1.

The Chip McCormick mag, I had from my LWC, fits sure 'nuf - and functions good, to boot.

Like anything else machine-made, though - I'd expect an occassional mis-fit due to a particular mag and/or 1911R1 getting together that were on opposite ends of the tooling's tolerance spectrum.

Yes, any magazine designed for a full size 1911 will also work in the R1. My personal favorite is Wilson Combat 47D mags. Chip McCormicks have been used by many members with favorable results as well.

I'd say go with the Wilson, based on experiences in IDPA. I've seen more than a couple of the base plates pop off those McCormicks on a reload. It's funny to watch the rounds come out the bottom of the gun, though. It's usually a surprise to the shooter! Perhaps a little kiss with a welder fixes that.

magazines

Some pistols like only certain brands of magazines. But it can also depend on what bullet you use. e.g. Mr Springfield will function with any magazine as long as I shoot only FMJ. That said I like the fit and finish of the Chip McCormack Shooting Star s.s. magazines.

Wilson Combat; 1911a1 series magazines....

Many semi auto pistol owners & armed professionals(spec ops, SWAT, security, LE, etc) use the Wilson Combat magazines.
Chip McCormick's & Tripp's are popular too but I'd buy a few Wilson's for duty-carry.

I've used Wilson mags for years in all my 1911 pistols. 5 inch, 4 1/4 inch and 3 1/2 inch guns and they always worked. I've heard good things about other mags but I figure "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

When in doubt, Wilson.

You can't go wrong with Chip McCormick. Try those before you drop your money on Wilson. In my experience, you can pay a lot more money for a mag than you will with McCormicks, but you won't find any that are more reliable.

Chip McCormick Power Mags have always worked great for me, and they usually run a bit cheaper than the Wilson 47Ds.

I use CMC and Wilson in all of my 1911s, including an R1.
