Go to a gunshow. Be prepared to pay a premium.

Better to get into reloading. I bought a Lee Pro 1000 press for myself just for 223, it has paid for itself several times over now.

Oh yeah. They're out there. You can find them on gunbroker... here's a link to one:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=323609964

Be prepared to pay at least .80 per round for brass case ammo. And that'll be pretty cheap.

Cabelas will eventually run some PMC bronze for 6.49 a box again, I should think... though I'm good for quite a while after the last time. +1 on Reload.

agreed, this panic buying has really taken it's toll. there is no bulk ammo anywhere where I'm at in any of the 'scary' calibers, 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 5.56, and 5.45x39 are all completely gone and online distributers are out of everything but the premo stuff. I would recommend"

1. investing in reloading components and start reloading

or

2. holding off on shooting up what you have left until the buyers frenzy has subsided and buy when it becomes available again.

If there is someone selling in bulk, it would be listed here:

Is it wrong to sell a 1,000 round bulk pack for $905 ??? I mean, I think I know the answer, but if someone wants to pay that much, is it wrong for the seller to take their money and sell them the ammo? Wow! $905 for 1,000 rounds... And I love how the seller actually has the gall to add on a 3.5% credit card surcharge.

Oh well. If these prices keep up, I might sell some ammo and buy a new pick-up truck...

Wow! Im gonna sell off all my AR stuff if thats the case. Ive bought several stripped lowers and 10K plus rounds of ammo. If someone is willing to pay it, I might just sell it. I prefer shooting my long range stuff anyways, and getting a Barrett .50 BMG for free would be a no brainer!! Sorrry, but its tough not to take the money. If thats what they bid it up to, its not my problem, it shat they are wanting to pay for it.. just saying!

CTD has 62gr penetrator 1000 rounds for $1000. Not saying it's a good deal, just sharing what I saw earlier.

Keep an eye on aim surplus, they run specials on Aguila .223 pretty frequently. I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds of that stuff and it's always been great- and just over $300 shipped for 1k brass cased 55gr rounds it's not crazy spendy. Hopefully they don't jump on the price gouging bandwagon like some of the other bigger retailers.

They're selling P-mags for close to $70 each, too. Shameless. But I guess if people are paying it....

It's offical quality 556 ammo (lake city) is selling for $1 a round on GB. It's like "pork bellies" they should just publish it in the WSJ with gold and futures market.

Would have never thought I'd find a deal at this place. $.50/round, normally around $.35-.40

This is why I reload. Even if components go up, my actual cost will not ever be the cost of manufactured ammo.

I just went to my local Gander in WPB. I was lucky enough to find two boxes of the Federal .223 for $49.95. Dude ahead of me wiped them out with 25 boxes in his cart.

Wait a few months. I basically stopped shooting centerfire ammo for a year in 2009 when the prices got stupid.

Eventually the people who paid stupid prices will run out of money. Ammo will be back on the shelves and prices will return to earth when dealers can't move their inventory.

I agree, but the question that remains to be seen is...how long?
