I think voting you out of Reddit is reasonable b/c the purpose of the site. It isn't so much dedicated to being a knowledge base as much as entertainment. This forum is more about knowledge. People self promote themselves here all the time in one manner or another. Of course, in the youtube example you can actually profit, but not that much.
