I'm having trouble deciding

I am looking at adding to my collection again.

I was looking at the sig sauer p226 tactical operations 40 S&W or a glock 19 gen 4. Which one would you be more likely to pick?

I may use either for range shooting and or carry the size of the tacop is not to big for carry as far as I am concerned so the size or weight of either isn't an issue for me at all. they are both accurate and fun to shoot.

I will make my own decision I am just asking what you would do and why.
I have kinda already decided but just let me know what you think.

Which one are you still going to be happy with when it's had 1000+ rounds through it and shows some holster wear?

Both are great guns. I'm not a big fan of .40... but I quite like my MK25. I also really like my Gen 4 G19.

The G19 will make a better carry gun... the P226 will be a better range gun at a more expensive price point. I can carry the MK25 just fine, but the tacops has the extended 20rd mags. I have some of those for my MK25 as well, but they do make it a bit larger for carry.

They are 2 very different guns at different price points. Get both, I guess is the answer... just figure out which one you want first.

I have both and like both.

The P226 will be easier to shoot well because of the single action trigger (first shot is double action) and because it is heavier (aluminum frame). I would get the P226 in 9MM because this is the round it was designed around. The model I would purchase is the MK25. You can get MEC-GAR 18 round mags that still fit flush. I have a West German made P226 that I use these mags in.

The Glock 19 is also a great gun. Some like the trigger better because it is the same pull every time. The Glock 19 is the perfect carry gun IMO. Small enough to be concealable, but big enough to get all your fingers on. The Gen 4 comes with the backstraps to make the gun fit your hand better.

A SIG that would compare better to the G19 is the P228/P229. They are both smaller models of their bigger brothers (P226/G17). If you want a .40 the P229 would be a better choice as it was designed around the .40S&W round. I like the M11A1 which SIG fanatics will gnash their teeth about saying its not a real P228 because it doesn't have a stamped slide, and its more like a P229.

P226 for range, G19 for carry. Hope this helps you in your decision.

Get the g19. I think it will last longer and give you a very accurate ccw gun. The accessories alone would make me get the g19 over the sig. There's more accessories you can get for the g19. I think the p226 is great too. I just like the g19 a little better.

Too bad you don't want a 1911 - SIG is currently running a "buy one & get one free" promo (Buy one of several listed SIG 1911's & get a SIG 1911-22 free).

I just shot one of Sig's 1911s, the basic stainless model. If I hadn't just put another gun on layaway, I would have tried to get it at a shop offering the 2 for 1 deal.

As Far as your original question, if money is no option, the Sig P226 would definitely be my choice.

The SIG MK25 is a phenomenal gun. I would strongly recommend it.

If you don't have a SIG P226, then you need one. Plus if you buy it in 40, conversion to 357 SIG and 9mm is relatively easy.

I would get the Glock 19. More ammo available, easier to carry if you choose to do so (and lighter for that matter), and rugged as anything....also not as expensive as the Sig, which are always over priced in my opinion....

You will have no problems finding 40 s&w ammo. Even at the height of the scare, it was everywhere. The same cannot be said for 9mm. During normal times they are about equally available, but 9mm is usually cheaper.

I carry a Glock 19 Gen 4 every day, and own (and shoot) two of them. No surprise, that'd get my vote for carry.

For a range gun, collection piece, OC gun, or legacy weapon? The Sig, all day long. Those are sexy beasts, and outstanding launchers for the .40.
