The concept of sale escapes Cabela's
Having some gift cards to Cabela's, I go to their site to see if there are ammo sales.
Here's a great deal. RemingtonĀ® UMC Mega Pack Pistol Ammunition Regular Price: $65.99 - $104.99 Sale Price: $65.99 - $104.99 Quite a few other sales like that - har, har , har. After seeing that they advertise guns which they only have 4 of in the whole country, what does one expect?

Seems every other day, Cabelas send me emails of sale items. Plus a sales catalog every other week. IMHO they are overpriced. I quit buying from them many years ago.
Having gift cards is another story, like use it or lose it. Reminds me of a B-day gift certificate from Gander Mountain a few years back. I have long avoided GM due to exorbitant prices and poor customer service thus redeeming my gift certificate was an ambivalent experiance. I ended up buying smokeless powder for around $35 a pound. |

I soured on Cabela's when I found that they were advertising guns that they did not have in stock on their internets ads. In fact, when I pushed them, they had only 4 in the whole country. I suggested that it was not right to advertise them. They disagreed. I said it was bait and switch. After several interchanges, you might think they could did one up for me. Nope.
Also, I had cargo pants that fell apart very quickly and they said that was normal wear - BS. Wouldn't make good on them either - as compared to LLBean, for ex.

I too think they are over priced. Some guys dont price shop, they just buy what they want. Bass pro is another one that is to high on guns, reloading powders etc.. Gander mtn., I cant afford to look at their catalogs or go into one of their stores.
Thank goodness we have choises, buy where we want and spend where we want. Black friday deals are a joke ! Mostly ! Mike |

For a while I really liked them. The retail experience they offer in their stores is pretty good.
I have a credit card from them and as a result they send me e-mailswith items before they go on sale to the general public or are put in the bargain cave. Items in this flier are the only thing I have ever found they are competitive on. The interest rate on the credit card is also 9.99% Can't complain about that.

I enjoy browsing in their stores but never buy anything. Their prices tend to be truly ridiculous.
If you have a Sportsmans Warehouse they have much better pricing than either Bass Pro or Cabela. |

I only buy from Cabelas when I can combine cabelas visa rewards with free shipping or a "$30 off purchase of $150" or the like. Doing that, I've gotten some pretty sweet deals.

Same as noelf2 here... their regular prices are high, but when I have a gift card, qualify for free shipping and shop their sale prices the deals come out pretty good. I also like the free container they include with bulk ammo purchases, I have four of them now.
