There is a rumor that USFA has sold off their machine tools for making the nicest SAA repros in favor of plastic toys like this. Ick.

For sure, the old USFA site only shows one version SAA, one caliber, two barrel lengths.

so the 12/22 was cancelled for this garbage? WTH!? seriously?! Honestly that video is probably the most stupid ad I've ever seen. why would i need a .22lr underslung on an M4 or Scar L?

I'm with Jim on this one... ugh. getting a 12/22 used is gonna be impossible.

I just meant all their pistols in general. not solely the 12/22.

And people say Glock grips are un-ergonomic, Yikes!

By the look of the video, they are trying to appeal to the X-Box crowd. I like seeing new, innovative designs, but this one just seems really silly.

The ZiP pictured is a polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol that's compatible with Ruger 10/22 magazines.

Looks fun to me...if it sells for the price quoted and works, I'm in.

What are the eyebrows above the barrel for?

\/
O

I sort of like the concept of a little bullpup semi-auto pistol, but the pistol seems oversized for what it does and the ergonomics look terrible. With the way the barrel protrudes, you can't really carry it in your pocket despite the fact that the rest of it looks just about perfect for pocket carry.

For mounting it to other firearms. I kid you not.

No, apparently they aren't. I found the manual online. One is a "barrel load rod" and the other is a "restrike rod." They are for operating the gun itself as there is not external slide or other charging mechanism.

http://www.zipfactory.com/pdf/ZiPOpe...WebEdition.pdf

I am not sure I want my fingers that near the end of the barrel.

At least with a big banana mag, you can get a better grip.

I am not impressed with their safeties. They have 5, but one of the "safeties" is just an indicator that the gun is charged or not. The indicator doesn't actually keep the gun from firing, LOL.

If the shooter is right handed, the ejection port is right over the trigger finger. I would not be surprised if powder burns resulted from burning powder coming from the ejection port.

If they built a modular 16 inch rifle version with a pistol grip folding stock that folds in half might be interesting.

Did anyone watch the video? Don't bother, it's mostly useless.

It even begins with "Operators, Welcome."

At first, I was going to say some very mean things about this "pistol". I would need to use low road language to properly describe a low cap rail mounted tactical .22 sbr that can also be fired when not attached to something with a stock.

But that's not what this is. Even if it's what the video show it is.

This actually is a super cheap hi cap .22 plinker.

Look at it with a hi cap mag in it.

Makes a lot more sense, doesn't it? The MSRP is something like $199-$250.

If it gets good reviews, I'm definitely buying one.

I don't like the term "zip gun" used for an actual production gun...
Where I'm from, and most people I know, a zip gun is a gun that you made from something else and you can easily throw away after doing something very bad with it. For example: There was a guy in L.A. a bit ago who was arrested for walking around with a zip gun he made from a supersoaker water gun... it fired shotgun shells and probably only would have gotten three or four rounds off before the gun was completely useless.

It's fugly and I don't see the point to it. The most logical purpose I can see for this gun is to keep your side arm off your side but this is a VERY bad side arm and removes all the benefits of one.
