dedicated 22 in a ar-15 platform

i know there are some different companies that build dedicated 22 ar 15 rifles. i am thinking about adding 1 to my collection. can someone advise me as to which models might be a good choice/quality and reasonably priced? thank you.

I like my Smith & Wesson MP-15-22 a lot more than my Colt .22 Tactical. It just shots a bit tighter group than the Colt. For whatever reason, the wife & kid prefer the S&W when we take 'em to the ranch. In this area, the cost of a S&W is a bit less than a Colt.

The 15-22 is as close as you're going to get. Others may look like an AR but the 15-22 both looks and functions like an AR. It's a high quality, reliable and accurate gun. You're going to be hard pressed to find anyone that has negative things to say about it.

As someone who own's a 15-22, the umarex colt and the ISSC SCAR I do believe the 15-22 is slightly more accurate the the other two. However each one has its strong points. The 15-22 functions like the real AR. The Colt looks almost identical and the SCAR looks almost like the original and for my personal preference is the '"baddest" of all three. The 15-22 seems to shoot anything you put in it without problem. The SCAR is very particular and likes CCI. Hope this helps.

I like my S&W. There may be better, but I haven't seen one yet.

Smith & Wesson MP-15-22 is a great way to go. Put a suppressor on it, too.

S&W M&P 15-22 if you want something that mimics the AR-15 controls as closely as possible.

It also takes down and cleans very similarly to the AR-15 as well.

Mine is just as accurate as my Marlin 39a and more fun to shoot.

I liked it enough I just bought a 2nd one in camo and put a scope on it to use as my new tree rat rifle.

I still need to sight it in though.

stay away from the Colt/Umarex !! (just my OPINION !!) i bought one when they first hit the market, fired a few mags thru it and immediately traded it for the S&W M&P 15-22 with the flash hider, it is so accurate, i bought a second one for my wife, it too is very accurate.., now if you already own an AR-15 style rife i highly recommend the Tactical Solutions’ AR-22 M4
i bought one of these before the S&W M&P 15-22 or Colt 22 came on the market this upper is one of the very best you can invest in, very accurate and reliable from shot to shot.

Can you assemble a lower (it's extremely easy)? If so, have you looked at the Taccom .22 LR uppers? They're very light weight and I love mine.

I bought the Colt when the Smiths were having OOB problems that blew their little extractors off. Ater that the Smiths had to have the blue spring upgrade.
People were sending them back to the factory to fix nasty failures. It was a regular safety issue. OOB is no joke! Something was brought to market early, but it's not a Smith until it runs right! I have my standards. So I bought the metal Colt M4gery, it's been perfect, and now you know the rest of the story.

I own a CMMG.
They're real AR-15s and will accept centerfire uppers.
Far better quality than the Colts, S&Ws, SIGS etc. IMO.

TacSol dedicated 22LR upper on a standard AR15 lower is the way to go in my opinion. A bit pricey but you can always buy a 5.56 among caliber uppers to make it more versatile.
