Glock 19 Gen 4 issue

Purchaced my first glock two weeks ago and I have been experiencing alot of failure to eject problems. It's a G19 gen 4, I bought the gun new and it looks like it was manufactured june 2012, it seems to have all the latest parts (0-4-3 RSA and 30274 ejector)

The problems are as follows:

EVERY time I load the gun to capacity (10 rounds in magazine + 1 in chamber) the first shot goes off but the spent cartridge either fails to eject from the chamber completely or stove pipes. I tried doing this a number of times and the issue happens each time over and over, once I clear the first catridge out manually, the other 10 shots cycle fine

When i load 10 in the magazine without a round in the chamber there have been 2 failure to eject issues out of 300 rounds

I did get hit in the face a few times with brass (not that it was a problem, but possibly related to issue?)

I have adjusted my grip several times to see if that would make a difference, I keep my wrists locked to make sure limp wristing is not the issue, i always make sure the slide is locked closed and magazine is fully inserted, ive also used several different ammos-Remington, Herters brass case, American Eagle and PMC, it continues to happen with all of them

Anyone experience similar issues using a gen 4 with latest parts?

I would appreciate any suggestions as to what the issue might be, will probably bring it back to the store within the next few days, they said they would have the gun smith take a look

How does your extractor look? Can you pull it out and post a picture of it or at least tell us what the claw looks like?

I'm leaning magazine here (the 10 rounders suck) but it certainly could be the extractor as well....

glock mags

I have also noticed this with several of my Glocks. (especially the G30) Glock mags are very tight & hard to load the last two rounds for the first month or two. I think too much tension is being placeed on the bottom of the slide with the mag topped off +1 in the pipe. My Glocks have had lots of malfunctions when started full +1 at the range. I have noticed this usually goes away when the mags are left loaded for a few weeks, but i still never carry fully loaded +1.

Thanks for the info, I just found some detailed pictures of extractors and ejectors on another forum, mine looks exactly the same, I could be mistaken but maybe there not the issue...now that you guys mention it, im really starting to think it's the 10 round magazines too i did some research and it seems like alot of people are having trouble with these. the followers on my three are all marked "2183", ill call glock tomorrow to see if I can replace them...too bad 15 rd mags are illegal here in NY seems like they all work fine

If they tell you send it back insist on a return label.

You can buy the parts on eBay much much cheaper and replace them your self. Do a search on eBay and you will see what I mean. I will never send nor have a Glock armeror look at mine when I can replace the parts my self for less then the labor and hastle. I've already got extra parts in my range bag. All the springs, ejector and pins. I can change out slides with my son in laws and he me if we suspect the extractor or the firing pin. My g22 is late model, I've had great performsnce from it!

Ebay is the last place I would buy gun parts from. Try a reputable dealer like Top Gun Supply.

The Glock parts on eBay are from gun dealers. How do you think they get their Glock parts. You call Glock and try to get them with out being an armeror.

Getting off topic, I know. But I've bought many 1911 parts from eBay and I haven't had any issues yet. So let's not generalize too much.

my Gen4 G19 has been rock solid reliable for 8,000 rounds now, even with my handloads and a bunch of $6 Korean magazines I bought for range use. It's one of the most accurate and soft shooting pistols I own. I haven't even bothered to change out the cheap plastic sights.

I hope your problems are something as minor and easily fixable as a bad magazine follower because these really are great pistols.

I was a skeptic at first, but I have been convinced over the past year.

Plus one on the full mag plus one in the chamber potential for failures. Front Sight, the NV based firearms training institute advises that with Glocks, load 1round short of a full mag, to preclude problems. It's worked to perfection with my wife's G19, Gen 4, over 2000 rounds now with 99.99% reliability...failures (2) were due to my faulty reloads.

If it really bugs you, shootiung with less than a full mag., call Glock...but rest assured that if you didn't get the job done with the first 14 rounds, the 15th probably won't help either.

Best Regards, Rod

I wouldn't bet my life on that silly quote. Why should it not be from factory as it should be? It'd bother me. I think he should send it back.

I also have had a flawless G19..But in my previous post I failed to mention. When I did a 2.5lbs trigger job for the range. it malfunctioned like nobody's business.

Trigger would get stuck back...or trigger would go all the way back and come back forward again. Nothing would happen ETC.

Leaving it FACTORY it's been perfect.

OP,

The last two new Glocks I've purchased had these problems, after swapping extractors and troubleshooting I got rid of them. The conclusion of my internet searching was that a lot of Glocks are having these issues dating back to 2009.

My suggestion would be to have Glock change the extractor and ejector.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just got back from the range, shot 300 rounds... instead of doing 10 + 1, I loaded 10 in the mag without 1 in chamber and also tried 9 +1, the result was no issues at all, the gun shot great!...I think it may just be these 10rd mags, I called glock customer service and they agreed too, im sending them back hopefully the new ones I get function properly

Constantine, "Silly quote"...common, let's keep it civil. I did suggest that he call Glock, and get it resolved...that particular malfunction with a full magazine has cropped up before. Apparently, Glock has not addressed it as yet. The fact that some Glocks may not function with a full to the brim magazine, does not detract, in my opinion, from their stellar reputation for reliability. Best Regards, Rodfac (30Cal's Dad)
