SKS prices?
Anyone know what they are running these days? I'm talking Yugo 59/66, cheap, nothing fancy. Thanks.

Last I checked, one in good condition was $300 and climbing. For ones that have seen a rougher life (corrosion in the bore and gas valve), probably a bit less.
The days of the truly cheap Yugos are over. |

Don't hesitate to spend some time looking. I just picked up a Sino-Soviet SKS from Numrich Gun Parts via Gunbroker; safety-inspected and test-fired, in very good condition with bright bore, just some dinged-up wood, shipped in a Plano case for $260. There are still some good deals to be found.

I paid $345 OTD for my Yugo back in January, I thought that was a bit high until I went to the next gun show and they were already going up from there. Mine was in like new condition so I didn't mind ponying up the cash. Last gun show I went to Russians were priced in the $600-700 range and the Yugos were priced at $400 and up. Those are asking prices though not selling prices, have no idea if any of them actually sold at those prices. Gunbroker might be a better guide if you're a registered user, you can search completed auctions to see what people are paying for them.

If you're stuck on a Yugo I can't help but I got a 1959 Type 56 the other day that needed some work (tons, I mean TONS
of cosmo---unlike anything I'd seen & a little rust that I'm still cleaning up) for $230. It was from grabagun but classic firearms has some from the same batch for $250 currently. I ordered one from them too Tough to pass up on a milled SKS these days for that price...![]()

Asking prices for Yugo M59/66 SKS rifles are averaging just under $400, with the average sale price a little over $300 lately. Here's data: GunStockMarket Yugo M59/66 SKS data.
The real story lately is not so much that prices have increased dramatically, but that the supply is trending down. Take a look at the general SKS tracking data at the same site, which shows the prices holding steady overall, but the number of available listings beginning to drop. Even with a recent set of Chinese SKSs (imported from the Balkins is the theory, specifically Albania), and these new imports (yes, direct imports from China have been banned for a long time, hence the third-party country as the source) which are still not C&R being of Chinese origin originally, the supply of SKS rifles is tapering off.

According to one of the SKS forums at "SKSboards", the PRC ("Red China") has refused to furnish documents to the ATF which could allow them to have C&R status.
This was despite receiving "Most Favored Trade" status from Clinton in the 90s. |

I have a Russian SKS that I bought about 15 years ago. I recently had my firearm collection appraised and the SKS was valued at $600.00. It has the folding bayonet and is in very good condition.

Southern Ohio Gun (SOG) has Yugo 59/66 SKS's in VG to EX condition for $329.95. They have the same in Super Excellent condition for $369.95.
These prices are from the November flyer. You'll need an FFL or C&R to order from them. www.southernohiogun.com 1-800-944-4867
