Tactical Chest Rigs HELP

Hey guys I need a little advise. I am currently looking for a high quality user friendly chest rig. I will be using it for some 3 gun competitions and I also am a hunting guide so it has to be some what multi purpose. I have looked at High Speed, 5.11, Voodoo, Eagle, Shellback, Tactical Tailor. The only problem being is that I have no way to physically inspect this stuff. Up here in Canada there are not a lot of suppliers that carry this stuff. Not to mention I live in the hills a long way from town. LOL. So any help would be great. Thanks alot.

For casual use no need to overdo it. I'm guessing you'll just want space for a few mags and maybe storage for a few odds and ends? Something around $100 or so should do you right.

As far as quality goes I've bought quite a few items from TT and all of their stuff has been top notch, customer service is good too.

For ARs, there's lots of choices out there.

I will be running a DD carbine MK18 with 30 rnd mags. They will be a steel mags of course. Kimber covert in .45. When I am guiding I have my gps tracking system and my radio tracking system for my dogs that I carry as well as a 2 way radio. As well as a shotgun or my 375 ruger for a back up weapon.

I have never been a fan of chest rigs or vests myself. Personal preference.

And a Blade-Tech double mag pouch with molle loks. Also, I have a spare ammo pouch, and a drop pouch. These are totally configurable to your preferences. I actually run it with a 2 belt system. My standard belt for my pants, and a condor rigger belt dedicated to the battle belt. So esentially, I just wrap the belt around and tighten it down.

My only real complaint was that it rides up your back when you bend down, but this was easily solved with a couple key rings and a caribiner.

Hilarious! Off topic I started to watch one of his vids once, 3 mins in I decided the dude was a tool (narcissistic much?) and never went back.

Back on topic, the good thing about modular gear is you can buy a plain rig and then purchase the components to go on there which suit your needs. I've never tried a battle belt but I know guys who like them. Personally I don't like any of my gear to ride down on my hips, hence the use of a rig (up high). All comes down to personal preference.

Oh yea, and I concur with the Vtac vids, I like those.

I guess I'm showing my age, but I fondly remember a belt and suspenders setup from Uncle Sam. Load Bearing Equipment, LBE, dusty stuff at the back of the surplus store these days

Really, a good belt and a good set of suspenders can be had from a number of sources. Much better than the GI setups from my youth. But there are some advantages to them, compared to a vest or chest rig.

The belt can be worn a little high, above the hips. This is by changing the length of the suspenders.

The belt can be worn a little low, to allow for a rucksack on your back without having to remove anything from the back of the belt.

The belt can be adjusted quite a bit in length. Notice that the OP is Canadian, probably from Alberta. Trust me, it can get cold there (I'm from Sask.) and he may want to wear this gear over some nicely warm (bulky) clothing. There are limits to how much some vests or chest rigs adjust, compared to what the military types now call "warbelts".
