Henry Repeater
I was in the market for a Henry Golden Boy in 22 Sht, L, Lr. I found someone who wants to sell one in 22 mag. It was fired 2 or 3 times & not cleaned. He won it at a raffle and it's engraved with "Ducks Unlimited" on the stock. He's asking $300. He's had it for 2 years. I can try it out tomorrow at the range. I have to let him know by Tuesday because he's going back up state. Some very slight rough spots in the bluing near the muzzle & magazine.

Not a bad deal. They go $400 new (anywhere that ive seen them anyways) and I have a feeling the ducks unlimited would make it more valuable. .22 magnum is an awesome round. Wish I had a dollar for every pig, squirrel and rabbit Ive killed with one.

Shot it today
I put 100 rounds through it this morning. With the price of 22 LR about half that as 22 mag, I think I'll go with the 22 LR. The savings in ammo will eventually equal the higher price for a new rifle. Plus it's new, with the owners manual. While at the range I found another interested buyer for the 22 mag. He just needs to convince his wife.

I sold my 22 mag because I can cast and reload cheaper for my larger guns.

Just bought it.
Got the 22 LR a few hours ago. Now I have to wait till next Saturday to try it out. In the mean time I'll look for a new case. Henry sells one with thier name on it but it's $40.00 & bright orange. I'll see what else is out there.

Henry repeaters are fine rifles no matter what caliber you get or have. Mine is nicely built and a good solid shooter.

Congrats on the Golden Boy.
I've had one for over a decade now and it looks and shoots just like it did the first day I got it, which was great. You won't find a lever gun anywhere with a smoother action than the GB. |
