Info request
Of the firearms I inherited from my deceased father, there's one I'm not entirely familiar with and would appreciate any insight this forum might provide. While I'm not necessarily looking to sell it, I'd like to know if I can find an approximate age and value. It's a Marlin 12ga pump action w/exposed hammer; serial number is 455XX. Besides being well used & worn, it's sat for as long as I can remember untouched in the gun cabinet. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

12 gauge you say? Might want to ask a moderator to scoot this over to shotguns
Just looking through a book here at work, it could be a couple different things. Need some more details. A guess, based on your description might be model 1898, model 16, or model 17. But some more details such as barrel length could help. Pics are even better

Well, without knowing the Model Number...or having a few more & better pics...
Could be a Model 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 30 or an 1898 Visible Hammer shotgun... variation in price from $275-1600, depending on model number & Grade... Bottom line, its a Keeper
