Oiling a rifle for truck gun?

So what would be a good oil to keep it safe from rusting? Right now I will be using REM OIL, every other month will be tossing wet REM OIL patches down the barrel to keep rust away. And removing the stock for a full coat of REM OIL.

For long term exposure in nasty weather I use a motorcycle product made by S100 called, appropriately enough, "Corrosion Protectant".

According to this test, Eezox or Corrosion-X are about the best products out there. I've used Eezox, but until I read this, I'd not heard of Corrosion-X.

I saw the Eezox tests, but I havn't heard much on them. I guess I will be using that, after those tests.

What do you employ as a truck gun?

Not to say that you don't have to take care of any rifle you use in this role, only that some do not require the same attention as others may. Ferinstance, something with a painted finish and a chrome bore would be less likely to get rusty I would think than would something with a nice, deep, blued finish.

Motorcycle 2-cycle oil is great! But what I have found to work the best is Lucas Oil, you can find it a your local automotive store. Its perfect for a truck gun considering the fact that the temperatures in a vehicle change drastically along with humidity.

REM OIL is about the worst IMO.
I also use RIG for external.

I've had very good luck with MP-5 metalophilic oil, but it can get gummy if you put too much on. It just takes a very thin film. It's not a lube, just a protectant.

Birchwood Casey Sheath is supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't had as much experience with it.
