DA problem with Colt 1892-1901
I have a US Model 1901 stamped Colt 1892. While it shoots very nice in SA mode, it seems to push the cylinder out of alignment in DA mode, allowing only about 4 of the 6 positions to fire. The weak cylinder lock seems to be a known problem on that series, is there a fix?

Yes, but without having it in hand it is difficult to tell what your revolver needs. It might just need the crane realigned, or it might need to be ranged, or it might need a new cylinder lock bolt, or . . . anyway, you get the idea, it's hard to diagnose some problems over the internet.

Well, at least you didn't say it's toast and to toss it in the scrap bin. I will check it out more closely and see if I can identify the problem in more detail.

It's not toast, but it might not be feasible to repair since there are few parts available and few gunsmiths who want to work on those guns. Can you describe in more detail what is happening? Examples:
The cylinder is turning past the barrel. The cylinder is not turning up to the barrel. The cylinder is backing up when the trigger is released after firing. The cylinder turns freely in the counter clockwise or clockwise direction. The cylinder appears to be at an angle to the barrel. Jim
