Schmeisser ARs. Any experiences, opinions?
A guy I know is selling a 10.5" Schmeisser AR-15 with some sort of compensator (JP tactical? or something) inlcuded and two 30rd mags.
It is a lot of money in absolute terms, but a good deal in relative terms: 25% off retail. He say's new, but perhaps it is more like "like-new": can't say for sure, but he knows his guns. I've not seen it and really I shouldn't even give my temptation credence by typing this question!!! But curisosity killed the bank account, so....

A German made AR that is German mil-spec. 10.5 may be a owner mod as the web site does not show anything shorter than 14.75".
Is this a SBR or a pistol? |

Uhhhh... Actually, I don't know what you mean in this case. It's a 5.56 rifle, not a pistol, but SBR? What's that?

SBR=short barreled rifle
Any who, this sounds like a nice rig, James! I work @ Zeiss, so now I've become interested in all things German. MCB: I've never heard of Schmeisser OR "German mil-spec". Is German mil-spec better than U.S. mil-spec? The same but different? J |

Mil-spec is more than just the physical size, it's also material and process. "Mil-spec" gets used a lot in advertising. Many aftermarket AR parts that are called "mil-spec" by the seller, may be mil-spec only in size, and not in material or manufacturing process. |

Globally, hard to say, but JP is a high end manufacturer in the US; one of their components is a compensator |
