Sierra matchking/gameking data please.

I shot some Sierra Matchking 168 grain .308 win loaded by federal today. This ammo fired extremely accurate! Does anyone have load data from the Sierra manual for that round? I would like to do my best at recreating this in Matchking and the 165 grain HPBT Gameking. Load data for these would be great. Any recommendations on powder would be nice also.

Gold Match?
No way to know the powder mixture Federal uses for this, probably as closely kept a secret as Col. Sanders recipe...

All you might be able to gather at this point, is that your rifle seems to like the 168 SMK, which is the case with many .308's (oddly enough, my son's Savage doesn't, but really shoots the 175's).

Many .308 shooters (us included) use Varget for this round...

Gold Match??? What? OP was specifically asking for Sierra's load data for SMK's and SGK.

Actually, I think OP knows exactly what to ask for, and got it.

No, he was asking specifically about the load Federal uses with the 168 SMK- which IS the Gold Match ammo...

Read before calling me out.

No, he specifically asked for the Sierra load data for Sierra's bullets from the Sierra manual. I would suggest you reread his post.

I shoot a Savage 10 FCP .308 with a 22" barrel. I too liked the Federal Gold Match load and wanted to duplicate it. I first found that the velocity of this round was average at 2,600 fps. I would even go out on a limb and venture to say the 168 Sierra would like this load also.

Here is what I have chrono'd and found to be even more accurate to boot.

Winchester brass trimmed to 2.010
Winchester LR primer
168 gr Hornady Amax
41.4 gr H4895
2.810 OAL (.010 off lands)

The 168 SMK is not a "round", it's a bullet...
"Rounds", are loaded ammo.
'Nuff said, whatever...

Not knowing the chamber depth of your rifle, it is difficult to give you a specific answer, but this might help.

Federal Premium factory ammo is rated at 2650 fps muzzle velocity but that is measured in a test barrel not in your rifle. Also, the factory ammo is seated out at 2.800 COAL +/- 0.004 inches from my measurements.
That said, you need to use that velocity data and COAL as variables when you try to duplicate the results with the factory ammo.

I have bettered Federal Gold Match SMK ammo results with either Reloader 15 or H4895 powders with the 168 Sierra Match King bullet, using about 5 different kinds of brass (head stamps not varied for any particular experiment) & Federal 410M match primers.

If you load from the Sierra manual in 25 fps increments from 2625 fps to 2675 fps and vary the COAL from 2.800 to 2.815 in 0.005 increments, I think you should find a very accurate load for your particular rifle that will better the factory ammo.

Using the same powders, I have gotten equal results with Nosler Custom Competition bulltet seated about 0.010 than the best loads with the Sierra SMKs.
