Snap caps & Pump action
in need of a few outside opinions.
I have had a question running through my mind whenever I pickup one of my private firearms, and I always seem to forget it before I am near a Smith. I have bought 8 snapcaps in packs of 2's from 4 different companies. When I put them in the following firearms I get the equivalent result : 1 Mossberg 500 I am able to cycle the first snapcap and get jammed yet liveloads fly through without problem. 2 Norinco Magfed 982H I am able to cycle both snapcaps and liveloads through without problem. 3 870 Magpul I am able to cycle a few snapcaps through and endup with 2 wanting to go in at once. normal load without problem. I have swapped and mix matched the caps in every combo possible, yet always recieve a very similar result. Any thoughts on this?! I was leaning to some sort of factory damaged or 'dud' caps, but once i started mix matching them I was at a loss.

Snap caps are snap caps. They're designed to "pad" the firing pin.
These may or may not be very close to the size of a real cartridge and aren't the same weight or balance. If you want to cycle dummy rounds through the gun you need action proving dummies. These are EXACT size, weigh, and balance dummy cartridges designed for testing the action. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=4...-RIFLE-DUMMIES |

I've read another thread on here before that suggested A-Zoom snap caps, although great, are deliberately undersized so that they won't get stuck in the chambers of firearms. If that's so, it seems their dimensions might cause some problems.
