Why do people put knives in gun photos?

Can someone explain to me why so many people insist on putting knives in gun pics? Yes, I understand that many gun owners also have knives. Many car owners also have lawn mowers but I don't put them together in the same photo.

Hunting guns and skinning knives make sense if it's a hunting related pic.
Non-hunting guns and a pocket size folding knife? Where's the reason for that?
All they're doing is cluttering up what would otherwise be a fine picture of a gun.

I think the knives look cool next to the guns. I believe it's because knives are often used together with guns. Like a holster, belt, bullets, etc.... I don't take any of my holsters to the range, but I keep a knife in my shooting bag. A lot of people have them on their belt right next to their guns.

I would assume people do so because of the correlation between the two. They both represent weapons of some sort or purpose.

In the case you mention, both are adequate self defense tools. Unlike your assosciation of the car and the lawnmower, where neither really have a commonly shared purpose.

I understand the connection between handguns and knives are far as being self defense weapons... But I have no interest as all in knives and understand the OP's desire to have gun pics without knives in em.

Because they don't compliment each other, like "Ladies" and cars. Guns and knives, are easy on the eyes .....

I carry a Tactical Folding Knife along with my handgun concealed for self defense and I feel if my gun goes down on me I can always fight with my knife besides my fists and feet.

I love knives and while I like pictures of guns by themselves, I also like pictures of guns with girls or knives or watches or whatever.

Dave P, couple of nice Randalls there and I just love that Dog!

lol Dave P, just need a gun in that picture and it'd be perfect. No one would mess with such a well armed puppy!

I would guess often it's either because they have an interest in both, it's a theme(like a kentucky rifle with a horn/bone handled fixed blade) or it might be their EDC.

I never did figure out why, though it doesn't bother me. I just ignore the knives.

For me they're a pair. I carry my Benchmade pocket knife 100% of the time and I carry my LCP as much as possible (97% of the time)

It's also kinda showing off. I'm very happy I have a Benchmade and the shooting community appreciates quality hardware.

Those are photos of knives that just happen to have a firearm in them.

Blades & sidearms...

Because it's cool!

Really, I have no real problem or issue with it.
Many smart gunners & armed professionals tote a high end blade with them or carry it while armed. It makes a lot of sense & small knives can be handy.

Gun photos are naked without a knife in them.

Never understood watches in gun photos either, but I’ve taken some to post in threads about guns & watches. Wonder if I should go pick one of my neighbors roses and put it in a gun photo...

^This exactly.

They are both SD weapons and should be carried with each other if possible. One or the other works.

You can actually see the blade style in the photo? I sure as hell can't.

The BM Bali-Song in the photo is over 12 years old. It's a model 46... titanium handles and a 154CM "spear point" blade with a false edge on one side... so you don't slice the crap out of your knuckles. I don't believe they've made this model in about 5 years.

There was a short run, "reissue", numbered, limited edition 46-01 for around $475, but they are very hard to find... and for $475, overpriced IMO.

Cheers,
C

Actually, I was asking tomrkba about the Benchmade Nim Cub II in His photo with his Ruger. Note the Benchmade Logo on his blade.
