Older 870 Wingmaster

Hi Guys,

This is my first time posting to any forum. I'm a dinosaur. I've been researching info for a friend and ended up here. The question is; he's got an older model Wingmaster that's in good shape. The charts don't quite match what's on the gun. He's had it for a long time & he's well into his 70's, so I'm certain the barrel is original to the gun. The date code on the barrel is WCR and the S/N is 496XXXV. Obviously it was made in August but was it made in '34 or '56 or later. Tried to call Rem. but it was too late in the day. Any info & value from you guys would be appreciated.
Best Regards

Value is influenced strongly by condition and "good shape" isn't descriptive enough. Can you post pictures? We all like to see pictures.

And welcome to The Firing Line!

The 870 was introduced in 1951... It could be a model 31...

Older 870

Thx for your input. It's definitely an 870 Wingmaster. I only mentioned '34 because I'm trying to figure the correlation of WCR to the chart codes. W = August, but CR, I don't get. It has the typical wear and character from use. There's no rust, the action is still crisp and it's been well cared for. We don't get together too much but will try to get a pic. It might be harder to get it on here.
