A close up photo at Cheaper Than Dirt shows a few shiney spots, but no major uglies like burrs or gimmicks. To me, it looks like it ought to be worth the $30 they're asking for it. I don't think there's very much earth shaking technology in GI type rear sights, so I'd probably go for it to have one on hand.

I'm going to use the words "clip" and "Long Colt" every chance I get. It grinds my gears to see new members attacked when we all know dang good and well what's being refered to.

After reading GI SANDIV's post, I looked up those MBUIS things. Never paid any attention to them, but I looked them up, and well... I suppose they might serve a purpose for some folks, but give me the GI type any day for my personal use!

The only GI type I had real heartburn over was a clamp-on front sight made by UTG and sold by Brownell's (shame on them!). What a piece of poop! The underside had terrible burrs from shoddy machining I guess, and the threads where the front sight post screwed in was cross-threaded and wallered out. There was no way another sight could have been put in even after chasing the threads with a tap.

If it were me, yeah, I'd let the fancy things go.

Carrying handle, eh?

The carrying handle enables suit-casing the weapon around, a nasty habit. I hope this won't get me kicked out of Valhalla! Say "rear sight ramp" 3 times real fast as penance.

It may enable the practice, but it's been 10?, 12?, a bunch of years since I've actually seen the practice. And out of curiosity, what's so nasty about it unless you're in a Drill Sgt rich environment or getting shot at? Sure, those of us who made it at least as far as bottom of the NCO corps thinks it's silly, but is it really?
