Winchester 12/model 25 question
On a winchester 12, if the shell will not stay inside the magazine tube, is that because the cartridge cut off is worn out? I may have the wrong term, but when I close the bolt, a shell comes out about 1/2 inch out of the magazine and onto the shell lifter. Then when I fire a shot and pump the bolt back, the shell gets stuck about half way and will not move at all. I have to stick my finger in there and it takes a while to get it out. It does this every time I pump it.
I bought a new action slide because the old one was broken, so i welded it back together and I was having problems with it feeding two shells at a time, now it won't even feed one. The new action slide fits and works, but it is a different model. I don't know how to describe it other than it is the correct part, its just for a different year of gun. Its fits and works, but then this problem arose. This is a project gun I got in none working order because the action slide was broken. It has never worked reliably. Any help is appreciated.

From your description the cartridge cuttoff is the culprit. A model 12 is brute tough, and machined from solid steel, however the cuttoff is actually light duty and after decades they can wear out.
