Need a load for 539gr. cast bullets in 45/70

I am attempting to work up a load for a Cimmarron Quigley 45/70. I have already slugged the bore to stop the Key Holing. Now I want to load some heavies for hog hunting this fall. A couple of suggestions have been to go with he Lyman cast book for the 500gr. trapdoor for safety sake. Anybody got a better idea or proven load for he 539gr. cast?

- Who makes the 539gr bullet (or whose mould is it)

FWIW:

My Marlin Guide Gun takes the following:
1895MarlinGBL 45-70
RCBS 45-500FNGC Cast(Lyman#2-ish) (510.5gr actual)
Size 459" (we can hope)
IMR3031/38.5**
BR2 primer
StarLine Brass*
OAL:2.530" (crimp groove)
QuickLoad PREDICTS 21,553psi/1,371fps (18.5" barrel)
ACTUAL Velocity (Oehler35) = 1,374fps±10 (yes, ...ten)

*(QuickLoad equiv-CaseVol=85.5gr H20)
**Full Case/HvyCrimp (RCBS roll crimp ½-turn past first case mouth contact)

The handloader speaks and says: For an increase in bullet weight to 539gr, QL predicts pressure ~ 22,865psi and ~1,530fps out of a 34" Quigley-type barrel.

The Lawyer speaks to say: YMMV. Consider starting two grains lower.

The shoulder says: This is a stout load even out of a heavy Sharps. "Ouch"

For a bullet that size, I use 3.4cc of 777 , a wax cookie between the bullet and the powder and get 1" groups at 100 yards. I'm using a Lyman globe sight on the front.

That ought to lay down any hog in existence.

Alternately, you can go to the 45-70 classic: Accurate 5744
A5744 is one powder that does not object to low fill ratios.

I suggest starting at 24.5gr under the 539 cast bullet you mentioned for a low 1,300-ish velocity (34" barrel again)
which will have very low velocity spread.
