150 Years Ago in the West
The Atlantic magazine has a pretty extraordinary collection of photos posted online from Timothy O'Sullivan, a famous Civil War photographer. These photos document government expeditions of the American West and are just phenomenal to look at.
http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2...rs-ago/100304/ You can see a number of his Civil War photos here: http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2...places/100241/ and in links from that page as well.

Thanks for the memories. I especially enjoyed the images of the N-D-Ns.

Pretty impressive. I was surprised at how many spots I could name before the description came up. I guess decades of cruising the west has paid off after all.
