What Is The Difference In These Primers?

I have always used small rifle primers for my .223 reloads but noticed on some sites that the Tula primers come
in "small rifle primers" and also "223 primers". What is the difference and why buy the "223" over the "small rifle" type?
Thanks...

I assume it is to avoid slamfires in ARs, much the same way that Rem 6 1/2 primers are not to be used in ARs, where the 7 1/2s are the correct one.

CCI does the same with their #41 primers which are just a harder primer for that slam fire issue.

I don't shoot an AR, but I never knew they had special primers for the ARs. At some point I would like to own an AR. I'm glad I read the thread for future use. Are regular small rifle primers not recommended for the semi auto .223?

What is the difference between the primers? a lighter charge?

I guess I wasn't sure what slam fire was. I looked it up and was thinking it was something completly different.

In addition to having a harder primer cup, CCI #41 primers also use "magnum" priming compound, so they're not completely interchangeable with the standard CCI small rifle primers.
