Pat Goodale 3 Day Precision Rifle Sept 23-25 Billings, MT

Practical Firearms Training (PFT) 3-Day Precision Rifle – September 23-25, 2011 – Billings, MT

Instructor: Pat Goodale
Class Dates: September 23-25, 2011
Location: Billings, MT

Pat Goodale, the owner and chief instructor of PFT, is a professional firearms instructor and consultant with more than 35 years of experience.

Pat served for 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Intelligence and Special Operations Officer, and as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor. Since leaving the Marine Corps, Pat has worked extensively in the tactical training, security and personal protection fields for a number of international companies. His experience as an instructor covers the entire spectrum of modern small arms. Pat Goodale 3-Day Precision Rifle – September 23-25, 2011 – Billings, MT

If you have been looking for a "real world" precision rifle course, this is it. While we all like to ding steel or shoot sub-minute groups at a 1000 yards while laying on our bellies and waiting for the perfect conditions both physically and environmentally, Pat makes it very clear that this is not the norm and a that most schools of thought are misled on this. Position shooting is critical and while prone shooting is the industry standard it is not the real world standard. Operationally the shot will be made on “Target Time” not shooter time. This class is not categorized as a “sniper” school and Pat does an excellent job at keeping a clear picture drawn for all the shooters in the class as to what the real world engagements are most likely to be for the military, police and civilian shooters.

During this course you will gain a thorough exposure to precision rifle use, including the following topics:
  • Fundamentals of safety
  • Manipulation
  • Rifle theory
  • Marksmanship
  • Zeroing
  • Firing positions
  • Field shooting
  • Field-expedient positions, both offhand and slung
    • Snap shooting
    • Kneeling
    • Sitting
    • Prone
  • Ballistics
  • Range estimation
  • Environmental effects
  • Using bipods / shooting sticks
  • Improvised rests
    • Isometric body positions
    • Backpacks, and trees
    • Other steady improvised rests
  • Firing under time compression
  • Covert movement
  • Observation and target identification
  • Practical field exercise
  • Longer range (500-800 yards) shooting
Most of the shooting is at reasonable distances (100-300 yards), however longer range (400-800 yards) shooting is taught and expected. A scoped precision rifle or hunting rifle capable of accuracy at extended field shooting ranges is required.

Please note that the class size is limited and pre-registration is required due to the "one on one" nature of this course.

Aim Fast Hit Fast

I will be hosting Todd Green at the South River Gun Club Mar 31-Apr 1 for his Aim Fast Hit Fast Class

The cost total with range fees will be $450.00 non refundable deposit of $200.00

Instructor: Todd Louis Green
Location: Covington, GA
Facility: South River Gun Club
Class size: maximum 12

Class Description: Aim Fast, Hit Fast is intended to pick up where most marksmanship training ends. All shooting involves a balance between accuracy and speed. Away from the practice range, a shooter does not get to choose how much time he will get to break a shot … shooting becomes reactive and all timeframes are determined by the situation rather than comfort or habit. The goal of this class is twofold. First, we will come to understand the critical balance between accuracy and speed for each individual shooter. Second, we will improve each shooter’s ability to deliver accurate, rapid fire in shorter timeframes to maximize his effectiveness shooting a pistol under stress. Skills to be covered include marksmanship, presentation from the holster, reloads, multiple targets, and shooting on the move.

Prerequisites: This is a fast-paced class suited to shooters who have already achieved proficiency with a handgun. At a minimum, prospective students should be capable of performing the following drill(s) on demand:

• Fire and hit a 3×5 card at 5 yards on demand (both double and single action as appropriate)
• Draw, fire 1 round, reload, fire 2 rounds (3 hits on 8″ circle) at 7 yards in eight seconds

Individuals who cannot meet these requirements at the beginning of class will not be able to keep up with the fast and demanding pace of instruction.

Equipment Needed:
• Reliable semiauto handgun
• Duty, range, or concealment holster with suitable gunbelt
• Enough magazines, pouches, etc., to carry a minimum of 50 rounds to the firing line
• Minimum 1,000 rounds of ammunition (1,200+ recommended; bring more, shoot more)
• Wrap-around eye protection; ear protection; brimmed hat

Instructor: Todd Louis Green has worked in the firearms industry since 1998, including instructing for the NRA Range, Beretta, and SIG-Sauer. He has over 1,000 hours of firearms and combatives training from such prestigious trainers as Ken Hackathorn, Ernest Langdon, Larry Vickers, SIG Academy, and Blackwater. A 3-time “Advanced” rated shooter at Rogers Shooting School, Todd is also a graduate of the NRA Tactical Pistol Instructor Development program and a 3 division Master-ranked IDPA competitor. Todd is a certified SIGARMS, Beretta, and Glock armorer; certified Simunition force-on-force instructor; and certified Emergency First Responder. He is also a long time member of IALEFI, IDPA, and USPSA.

Defensive handgun training opportunity in NE OHIO

Hey all, just wanted to pass on that there will be defensive handgun training opportunities in northeast Ohio. An Introduction to Defensive Handgun will be offered by Great Lakes Outdoor Supply and dates are currently being assigned. This course will be instructed by a certified Law Enforcement trainer and is intended for those new to defensive handgun use. Advanced classes may be added in the future.

This course is designed for those new to handguns and/or wish to obtain the basic skills necessary to properly handle a handgun in a defensive setting. This is a 6 hour course and the cost is $75 per person (price subject to change) and there is a 15 student limit per session. There will be one course scheduled every month from April through August. The first course will be held Saturday, April 21st. from 8am to 2pm. The course will include both classroom and live fire exercises, held on an OUTDOOR range. The minimum round count for this course is 500 rounds, but it is suggested the students who are able bring more, as some groups may progress through the live fire portion faster, and more shooting time will be allotted. Topics covered include basic weapon handling and manipulation, basic marksmanship skills, shooting while moving, shooting from barricade positions and more. Pleas visit the link below and ask for additional info. (info should be on the site soon I’m told) or PM me and I will try to answer your questions.

This is, by far, the most important class we teach. Whether your training needs lie in law enforcement, personal defense or competitive shooting, this class is a must! With as many as 8 instructors on the line, you will receive professional and personal attention throughout this 2-day course. It's the most beneficial course taught at TDSA because everything you learn can be applied to any application, including what it takes to win a lethal encounter. This course has proven to benefit both the novice shooter and I.P.S.C. grand master's alike. Not only is it the foundation of all our training, the techniques you will learn in this course will help you improve in other shooting disciplines as well. • How to operate your pistol reflexively to ensure accurate, stance-directed fire
• Techniques used by the top shooters in the world
• Speed reloads, tactical reloads and the emergency or slide-lock reloads
• The draw from both concealed and open carry
