Tactical Treatment of GSW by John Farnam March 20th at OKCGC

We'll be hosting John Farnam for a one day class on the treatment of gun shot wounds.
The class will be on March 20th and cost is $325 plus a $25 range fee.
You will need 100rds of handgun ammo with your normal carry and range gear.
You can find more here. http://www.defense-training.com/

Pm me or Email spencerkeepers@yahoo.com

Below is a clip from Johns site.

Tactical Treatment of Gunshot Wounds

Our course is based upon Tactical Medicine principles, but while TacMed is designed for military/police tactical entry team members with specialized medical training, our course is for non-medical personnel who may become involved as primary responders to treat and stabilize victims of gunshot wounds. Originally designed primarily for firearm instructors, home owners/defenders and street police officers, we have also given this course to Federal and Local Law Enforcement Emergency Response Teams and as a Train-the-Trainer program for elements of the United States Marine Corps.

This is a shooting course combined with what you need to do immediately afterward to increase the survivability of gunshot wound victims, including yourself. Important topics include the Effects of Bullets on Human Tissue, Where to Shoot and How to Place Bullets with Surgical Precision. Following Threat Elimination, we teach How to Identify the three, major, life-threatening Injuries and How to Control Hemorrhage which is the major cause of preventable death from gunshot wounds. Accessing Emergency Medical Services and Maintaining an Emergency GSW Response Kit is also covered.

We think Tactical Treatment of Gunshot Wounds is an important skill that should be part of every shooter's armament.

Course curriculum is developed by Doc Gunn aka Anthony M. Barrera, M.D.

Instructor for this class is John S Farnam.

Guys & Gals,

Over the last year or so, we have been continually asked by students to hold a simple one day class that would encompass the use of shotgun / pistol or carbine (AR/ AK/ SKS ETC) / pistol techniques.

In other words “help me use these weapons TOGETHER in a realistic environment. Show me how they can (or can not) be used in real life scenarios”.

Scenarios discussed the most are working with these types of weapons in or around both buildings and vehicles, multiple target engagement, moving whilst shooting, moving though a home / building, penetration issues (show me what does and does not happen with various ammo), reloading and transitioning from one gun to the other etc.

So……..after much deliberation in creating “another class outline” and in response to these requests, we have decided to schedule 2 classes......specifically to address the above questions in one days training.

Both are 1 full day, on range classes held in Okeechobee County Florida.
Both will be held at OK Shooting Sports with Kill house & Vehicles.
Both classes will involve transitioning from long gun to handgun
Both classes will be limited to 15 student’s maximum.
Both classes will have a 5 - 1 Student to instructor ratio.

Please understand that by attending these classes, it will not make you an instant ninja nor will you be an "expert" in the tactical use of these weapons systems. What it will give you is the firsthand basic knowledge and understanding needed to then build on and train with to increase your skill sets.

Tactical Shotgun / Pistol Day Class: Full Day / $200
Date: Friday March 19th 2010
This course reviews both the positive and negative points of using shotguns for practical real applications.
Ammunition Required: 150 – 200 rounds of birdshot (7 – 8 shot), 25 rounds of buckshot and 25 rounds of shotgun slugs plus 200 pistol rounds minimum.
Prerequisites: Students must have basic firearms ability and knowledge.
Additional Equipment: Sling, Strong side holster, mag carriers, and shell carriers. Baseball cap and sun screen (sun protection), food and drinks, elbow and knee Pads, along with clothing that will allow for work on the ground (no open top shoes or v neck tops).

Carbine / Pistol Day: Full Day / $200
Friday April 2nd 2010
This all day course covers firearm specific anomalies, carry options and accessories, using cover, standing, kneeling and prone positions, shooting on the move, transitioning from carbine to pistol and pistol to rifle, shooting from cover, and reloading techniques including speed loads and tactical reloads.
Ammunition Required: 500 rounds rifle plus 200 rounds pistol minimum
Prerequisites: Students must have basic firearms ability and knowledge.
Additional Equipment: Sling, Strong side holster, and magazine carriers. Baseball cap and sun screen (sun protection), food and drinks, along with clothing that will allow for work on the ground (no open top shoes or v neck tops).

You can book online via our website or get more info by contacting me directly on 1 954 298 9103 www.floridafirearmstraining.com

Please remember that we have limited space….

Cheers
Will

Well, its finally here. Again, we'll be meeting at the Home Depot at

--WE STILL HAVE ONE FREE SLOT AVAILABLE--

I also need the following folks to email me to update your contact information:

M. Johns
&
J. Lutz

Again, here's the approximate gear list:

- Class fees (cash or check)
- Pistol with 3 magazines (5 or more suggested)
- Belt with holster and magazine pouches (quality Kydex such as
CompTac, Raven Concealment, Bladetech suggested)
- Weapon cleaning kit (cleaning rod, bore brushes, patches, rags,
cleaning & lubricating oil, toothbrush)
- Hat, Rain or inclement weather gear
- Wraparound Eye and ELECTRONIC Ear protection (electronic ear pro is
under 50.00 now)
- Water / Snacks (we’ll take an hour lunch break around noon, but we
do NOT LEAVE THE RANGE)
- Sun Screen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended)

If you have any questions or need anything, please feel free to call, email or PM me.
