It looks like you may have to change the name of this thread to "who else has been let down by a taurus?"
Personally, I have never shot a gun I never wanted to shoot again with the possible exception of my dad's S&W .44 Mag that has a small wood grip the size of a cell phone. Although pretty, hurts like hell to shoot.

I have a Phoenix Arms 25 that was given to me new in the box. It will usually get 3 rounds off before a jam.
I didnt think a free gun could be bad, but they wont let me give it back.

The ONLY pistol I owned that was unreliable was a Taurus 709 Slim. It even went back to Taurus once and had it's extractor replaced. It still was unreliable....a house fire took the pistol and I replaced it with a Beretta.

But to add to a positive on Taurus - my PT92 is a beast and has NEVER malfunctioned over the many years.

It really doesn't matter what the brand/manufacturer is . . . all of 'em can have a problem.

I think the answer is simple . . . it's the one that doesn't work.

Actually owned? A Glock 9mm.
Not terrible but compared to a Sig, M&P or Walthers, no contest. I may not be as price sensitive as some, or am willing to wait to buy.

I expect Uncle Malace provides one of the best quality oriented answers: if you get cheap enough (ala Saturday Night Special) you could be adding risk or operational nits.

What bashing? I owned a few Taurus revolvers and they all had their problems. All but one had poor fit and finish and two had cylinders that completely locked up during my first range sessions. Over priced junk, yeah that's the worst I've owned.

My very first handgun was a worn out RG 22LR from 24 years ago. I wouldn't give a dime for a as new in the box one today. Many times you do get what you pay for.

I also own a Jimenez JA-22 that is a complete POS but it is fun to shoot. I would never use it for self defense, only for shooting targets. Well if I had a rock or the JA-22 i'd use it then I suppose.

Never owned a bad gun, but my friend has a GSG-522, I normally have at least 1 jam per magazine with it, and it's extremely ammo sensitive, winchester jacketed hollow-point 55-grain is all that really works.

When a single individual lists several POJs, you begin to wonder if its the firearms or the owner.

Or, someone who is very, very unlucky.

In any case, I've never bought a real clunker. The closest might be a Springfield Loaded Champion. Not a bad gun, but my other 1911s, including my Kimber CPD Ultra, were quite a bit more accurate for me.

My grandpa used to have a Jennings J25 (then my dad inherited it, lucky guy

). It jammed about every other shot, and it was so inaccurate, you always worried that the bullets just might boomerang back around and hit you. Complete junk. Anyone who says Taurus is junk has never handled a Jennings

for me it's my SR9C
I had four light strikes in the first 25 rounds and has shot about 1000 flawless rounds since.

my XDM45 compact, my XDM9 and my XDM45 (which I traded for the XDM9) have all been 100% flawless from day one.

I guess this may not meet the criteria you were looking for but dernit...that's the truth
