I prepped a bunch of .38spl and .357mag case and set-up (loosely) the dies getting ready for a loading session. Waiting on boolits and several recipes. I like to load 10rds of a few different flavors and then go to the range. I need a chrono though.

.45 ACP

-Berrys 185 grain plated hollow base round nose bullet
-Mix of Remmington and Winchester cases
-Winchester large pistol primer
-6.3 +/- .2 grains of Unique
-COL 1.257 (.45 max COL = 1.275)
-Crimped

This is a very reliable easy to cycle load for my Kimber Super Carry Pro. It works well with the hollow base bullets, which are light, and have a cavity in the base as the name implies. Berry's recommends loading with a mid-range load in whatever powder you are using as would be appropriate for same weight in normal jacketed roundnose. 5.7 /5.8 grains will not reliably eject the case in my gun given the type of recoil spring it has.

Max load on this combination should be around 7.4, but i see no reason to go higher than 6.4 or so for bullets that are just for range purposes.

I confess that the only thing I'm loading is my bass boat. The Spots are schooling and it's double time! My new Scout Squad will have to wait.

I load a small stock of each round and save them. As I go to the range and fire some, I reload what I shot. I know me....If I didn't put a limit on myself, I'd be cranking out thousands of rounds and they are too hard to store! I just don't have the storage space. The last ones were .380, 9x18 Makarov and 38/.357 Mag.

I had a lot of storage space till I loaded thousands of rounds for every caliber I have a gun to shoot.

This weekend I put together more rounds for my 6mmBR rifle, with two different powder charges.

Also, loaded some .357 Magnum using HS-6.

Tomorrow, more .357 and maybe some .45 ACP. I'm running low on .45.

Had a fairly productive day in the reloading world today.

Went to range first thing this morning and picked up half of a 5-gallon bucket of brass. Then washed, dried and sorted through all the brass.

Loaded a complete work up of 7mm Rem Mag.

Hornady Interlock 139gr BTSP
OAL 3.280
Win cases
CCI LRM primers
3 rounds of each 53,54,55 then every .5 all the way up to 60.

Only thing sucks now is I have to wait for weekend to go shoot them to see which is best.

.45 Colt round ball.

.454" 144 grain muzzle loader ball lubed with liquid Alox seated deep to the case mouth - over 3 grains of Trail Boss.
Out of my 20" carbine they are very quiet, about like a .22 rifle, and 1" accurate at 25 yards. Still respectable at 50 yards, 3"-4", but accuracy and trajectory drop off the cliff after that.

thinking about a wad and filler system to fill the void between the base of the ball and the powder. I might be able to get down to just 2 grains or so of Clays or similar and reduce the noise even further.

Teaching my 12 year old son how to reload. He wanted me to take him shooting and I said when You can shoulder the rifle, I'll teach you to shoot. Started by taking the press apart and then putting back together. Then having him go through it setting and adjusting each station. I want him to understand whats happening inside the gun when he pulls the trigger. Going to load 150gr 30-30. He has cleaned and trimmed 500 cases giving us plenty of time to talk about shooting and safety, and the best part, just spending time together. Maybe next weekend we can get to the range so he can see the end result of his labor. This weekend is baseball.... again.... He almost has enough saved up to get a .22 and then he says he is going to save up for a .308 cause it has more bullet options than a 30-30 and why have 2. We'll see.

That's the same exact load I use, except I use the Winchester 115gr fmjrn. You like it?

Yep I really like it. Have tried it through 3 different 9mm guns and have had nothing but great results. Very accurate. A little bit dirty but I can live with that.

Jwrowland77, that is the bullet that commercially loaded shoots very well out of my 7mm rem mag, I used it to break in my barrel and sight my scope in, man it loves those dudes. show us some targets after you find "The One".
