Shot placement is everything! I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull.

all 25 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple

If you have a smooth bore barrel, I'd go with 00 buck shot in the chamber, followed by 3" magnum slugs. The 00 would most likely turn them around, the slugs would do the killing if it were necessary.

Hollow point slugs will do the trick. Then regular slugs, then run for your life 00 buck couls work as long as it is a magnum load. I.E. Magnum powder and primer.
