gettin a new revolver

i might be getting a new toy for my tax return. its not but the closest thing i can think of this looks like is a Ruger Old Army .44 cal. is there anything i should know since i never had one of these? its between this an a SkS.

You need to know that it needs to be cleaned after every range session or there's a possibility that it could rust.
Loading is a lot slower than with cartridge guns but it's a very gratifying and fun experience to shoot them. It provides a loud boom and the opportunity to adjust the loads to your comfort level.
Most folks don't get tired and bored of shooting cap & ball revolvers but instead look forward to doing it.
It's nice to not need to buy brass cased ammo. Basically a person only needs round balls, powder and percussion caps, a nipple wrench, a powder measure and a powder flask to dispense powder with.
And buying an inexpensive loading stand to hold the revolver upright helps to make loading easier.

10 years from now the Ruger Old Army will be worth more than the SKS from an investment standpoint

My idea is to look up Rem collection at Taylors &Co and check out the Uberti models that are case hardened. They cost more than the standard Pietta but it will be a gun you can be proud of-especially if you fit them w/nipples offered by the possible shop and get a conversion cylinder. OOH we spending some money now! Actually the gun will cost more but I get them at discount (Being a retailer)and only charge 10% plus drop off fee to folks on this thread.

As it happens there is a gentleman on the WTB and WTS forum who is offering a very good condition Ruger Old Army (Blued, long barrel adj. sights) for a good price. Look for an entry in the "WTB Used Black Powder Revolver" by Keybear. He is an honest, friendly and decent guy. I think it is worth more than he is asking.

I was considering this revolver but it would be my second ROA and I decided to spend my pennies on an issue I did not previously have.

It is very common for ROA owners to want more than one.

You would never regret this purchase.

I shot the Old Army yesterday afternoon .
Don,t shoot into the wind . LOL
It,s a fun gun and shoots well . After 24 shots I cleaned it .
Very surprised to fined it not to hard to clean took about 30 min.

I,m still going to sell it as I just have more guns then I can shoot ,

DEERSLAYER I got the old army in trade and never thought about shooting it .
it is fun but shooting any firearm is fun . I see the Ruger Old Army going for 500/600 hundred bucks and that is wild . I got 400 in this one and looking to get my money back .
