FEG SMC -380

I just picked up this pistol and shot through a box of ammo with no problems. Can anyone give me info on this gun ( reviews written , instructions of complete breakdown for repairs and most important where to obtain a MANUAL ) or links to find out info. Many thanks for your time in reply.

Start here

http://www.makarov.com/others/

The first gun mentioned is the SMC - 918 the 9mm makarov version of the gun you have. A civilian copy of the hungarian Army gun the RK-59. It mentions the 380 version.

I have had both, the 9x18 was my EDC pocket gun for a while.

My 380 had trouble feeding certain ammo, I don't remember now which ones.

Good solid gun!

You might also poke around the Makarov forum, since the guns come in both makarov calibers there is likely to be owners and info of the guns at this site. I know there was when I owned both guns many moons ago.

walther type pistols

hello,i have several different versions of that type of weapon,in several calibers.all are excellent
with hardball ammo.some work well with hollow point ammo. They are good reasonably priced handguns.usually very accurate as well.if you stumble on a version in 32cal.,in good shape, they are excellent as well, especially with hot european ammo.guardman

http://www.libertyarmsco.com/GUNS/GU...FEG-Manual.pdf I found this link for a FEG Mark II AP/APK .380 manual. Is this close to the FEG SMC-380 ? DO the AP/APK have interchangeable parts ? Can I use this manual for a take down for repair ?

Yes that is the way to take down the SMC.

It is identical to the Walther PPK in that regard.

Have no idea about parts interchangeability but it would seem logical as both guns are copies of the PP and PPK made by the same factory.

Thanks for all the help thus far. As I always say " ask a man that owns one " You guys have a wealth of knowledge with no problem of passing it along. Many Thanks! Where do I look to find the link that tells that the factory that makes the PP & PPK also produces the Feg Smc 380 ?

The company is now out of business but was the main supplier of arms to Hungary for all of the 20th century.

OP,
Your pistol is essentially the same as the PA-63 except in .380. If I am not mistaken yours also holds six, not seven rounds in the mag? Generally anything you find regarding the PA-63 will apply to you. Spare mags are available but pricey.

Hey Roman , Thanks for the great links. What about spare or interchangeable parts that are available ? Isn't there a place where the business sold out remainder of "stuff" ? Also I did not find too much on you tube for internal break down . Any idea on that? Thanks again

Great little guns. I have the 918 and .380 versions. Both function fine. For pocket carry, better than a PPK IMHO.

I have the FEG R-61 in .380acp which is very similar to the SMC. Check this web site for parts and manuals.

If you find the link don't believe it.

After Walther stopped production of the PPK they marketed a FEG copy as the PPK/E.

Ok let me clarify what I wrote,

Quote:
but it would seem logical as both guns are copies of the PP and PPK made by the same factory.
OK, both the FEG SMC 380 and the FEG AP/APK FEG Mark II are copies of the PP and PPK

AND both the SMC 380 and the AP/APK are made in the same factory.

I was not meaning to suggest Walther PP or PPK's were ever made in the same factory as the FEG copies.

THUS the parts should interchange between the AP/APK or PA-63 or the SMC-380 or SMC-918 - but I don't know for sure but all of those guns were made at the same factory by the same arms maker.

Walther PPK and PP parts may or may not work in the FEG copies and I would assume not.

Sorry for my mis communication.

This is correct and the source of occasional confusion. They were not produced in the same plants.

SMC 918 love at first shot.

If the 380 is anything like my SMC9x18 you will love it. Small compact, a little harsh on the trigger but they are some of the smallest model guns with a serious bite.

Btw Wildbill22 the 9x18 and .380 use the same magazine.

Has anyone used Tul Ammo in the SMC 380 ? If so what were the results ? Just picked up a box to try out for cheap plinking . Having second thoughts using from what I read about using steel case bullets

I've used a lot of steel cases in the 9x18. Steel cases were the norm in the old Soviet Bloc where these small guns originated.

Chesster , I guess I will try out this box of 50 & see how it goes. I've only put about 250 rounds through this PPK clone and it's been flawless a great little gun. Thanks for the input, Wild Bill
