xd 40 subcompact to 9mm?

Anyone tried a conversion barrel in an xd 40? I think Id like the 9mm better but I don't want to buy a new gun.

Thanks

Pretty sure someone makes a conversion barrel. Likely, Lone Wolf Distributors.

I don't believe Lone Wolf makes conversion barrels for anyone but Glock...

You might try Storm Lake or KKM.

With that said, It shouldn't be too difficult to trade for an XD sub in 9mm either. You don't have to worry about it having issues... it's a Springfield... if there ARE any issues, they'll fix it or replace the gun. That's why you buy Springfield.

Fire Dragon makes a conversion for XD 40 to 9mm. They also have the conversion barrel for the sub-compact.

I have one of their barrels for my FNP-40 for 357 Sig. They are very good quality and work well.

Do you want to just use the conversion barrel for the range or will it be for self defense too? I don't think I would trust any 40 to 9mm conversion barrel for self defense personally.

Really I would want to use it on a carry gun. Why would you not want to use it on a carry gun?

Ill check out those barrels. Thank you.

I know that the full sized XD40 could be converted to either 9mm or 357 sig. I'm not sure if the subcompact works the same way, you may have to checkout the braintrust over at XDTALK.com

I only say this because on the 40 slide breech face and extractor are set up for the 40. The 9mm is a smaller case. If you do a search on conversion barrels you will find that they work fine for most people but some have problems. Why not shoot the conversion barrel at the range and keep the gun loaded with 40s? Well, I find the 40 a little tougher to control properly. I think that I would handle the 9mm better.
