winchester 670 cracked stock repair

My 670 has a deep 1 1/2" long crack in the stock right beneath the bolt handle. I was thinking about epoxying the crack and clamping it together. Would that only be a temporary solution? What would you do?

An epoxied repair will be stronger than the natural grain was.

That's the way I fix those! And I do it for a living.

The stocks on the 670 are pretty plain. You might be better off just getting a replacement stock off Gunbroker or Ebay. The 670 uses the same stock as a Model 70 of the same era.

If you're interested in a factory composite stock for a model 70, there is a nice one for sale in the "gear & accessories" for sale/trade section of this forum

Will it fit a 670? Backups are always nice.
