My local emporium has a 5" with what appears to be a rebounding hammerfor $850, is that ballpark? Also if that is a rebounding hammer, does that mean it's safe to carry with six rounds?
Thanks for any help. |

Unless it's an actual S&W (not likely at $850) that was made about ten years ago, it has a hammer mounted firing pin. So no, it wouldn't be safe with six rounds in it. You also didn't mention if the gun is new, or who made it. If it is a new Uberti, then $850 is about right. If it is a used Uberti or Armi San Marco, then no, it's too much. New Ubertis are around $850-$900. That's my opinion, anyhow.

I've seen 'em new for $775 in several locales. $850 seems a bit on the high side to me.

I know an FFL who has a brand new S&W for sale but it's pricey.
IIRC it was made in 2000. Last edited by arcticap; August 25, 2011 at 12:56 PM. |

An Uberti, new with a hammer mounted firing pin. The Berettas had a rebounding hammer also, but don't remember if had a hammer block. Anyway, its purty and has sights I can kinda see with my failing peepers.

The Uberties do have a hammer block safety simular to the later style smith and wesson DA revolvers.

He hadn't set the price yet because it has just been sitting in his store room. |

He's asking for $1900 plus shipping.
It's chambered for .45 S&W and it comes in a presentation box. Last edited by arcticap; August 31, 2011 at 09:02 PM. |

I don't know about the S&W but the Uberti won't handle black powder.

IMHO, that S&W at $1900 would be a darned good price.
