Winchester WST - 45 ACP & 9mm loads

I have a box of 45 ACP Hornady 200g XTP and the 9mm 124g XTP rds.

I found loads from the Winchester site for the 45 for a JHP (4.7 to 5.2g OAL of 1.155). Is this a good range to use for the 45 200g XTP? The Speer mamual does not list data for the XTP just the GDHP which I think is similar.

I can't find anything for the 9mm 124g XTP using the WST powder. Is the WST powder too hot for the 9mm rd? I normally use Win 231 and Bullseye but have loaded more with the 231 lately. But I have the WST sitting there. I would like to use it in the 9mm.

Does anyone have a "safe" accurate WST loads for the 45 & 9mm? Oh yes, OALs would be helpful too.

On the Hodgdon site they have the 200 grain Speer JHP in .45 ACP seated to a rather stubby 1.155", in a Winchester case with a Federal 150 primer and using 4.6 grains of WST to start, and 5.1 grains as maximum.

I don't see 9 mm loads for WST. Only for WSF, which is slower and uses about a third more charge weight in the .45 ACP. It looks to me like the charges of WST for 9 mm would have to be pretty small, especially with the short seated XTP (1.060" COL from Hornady's manual). It's possible it's one of those powders that gets peaky as you get to higher pressures and in small spaces, and it may just not be a good choice for your application. I don't know from experience with it, though, since I don't run 9's. Perhaps someone else has had some.

Hornady 4th Edition

Here's some data from Hornady 4

.45 acp #45140 200g xtp with WST:
4.6 start for 800 fps... 5.0 max for 850
both @ 1.240

I don't show a listing for a 9mm 124g XTP

Wasn't my powder of choice, but I did use WST for my 125RF lead bullets at a 3.6gr charge.

I use 4.2 grains WST with 200gr LSWC and love it! Some day I will work up the load higher to see what is most accurate in my .45's, but for now I am having good results at 15 yards.

I have been having good results with WST in 9mm with a cast 120 TC bullet @ 1.055" OAL. I would suggest starting about 3.6 or so and working up for the Hornady 124 XTP, which is a very good bullet for 9mm. You might look at Power Pistol or HS6, both also do fine for me.
