CZ97 BD

I am thinking of getting this gun, which looks like an SP01 in .45acp. I have a few questions for those in the know:

1). Is the grip that big (like the FNP45), or is it comparable to the SP01?

2) why does CZ only make 10 round mags for this gun? It's a double stack, so why not cram a few more rounds in?

3) Is it as accurate as the 9mm CZs?

Thanks

1) I own a CZ 97 B (not the BD) and a CZ 75 SP-01. The grip of the CZ 97 is bigger than the SP-01 (it is not a huge difference though). I've never handled the FNP so can't speak to that.

I have large hands, so for me, the 97 feels fine.

2) Don't know why. 10 rounds in the mag and one in the pipe is enough for me.

3) The 97 is very accurate. In my experience, it is as accurate as my 9mm CZs.

Maybe schmeky will check in here, he is very knowledgeable about the 97.

Edited to add photo.
Don't know if this will help but I just took a quick picture of my CZ 97B back to back with my SP-01.Maybe this will give you some idea of the respective sizes?

The grip isn't so big that a person with average sized hands can't handle the CZ97 well. I consistantly hit a soda can with mine at 50 yards after a little practice with it. I don't think you will regret buying a CZ97.

Hey Mr. Blue:

I'm in NE IL, and you're in SE WI. (?) I'm picking my CZ 97B up Saturday. I'm going to try to get out and shoot it Sunday. Why don't you join me and give it a try for yourself? We're probably less than 50 miles apart. Are you a member at Bristol? If not, where do you shoot? Drop me a line.

1) It is between the two. Mostly longer.

2) So that it isn't overly large.

3) From all reports, yes. Can't tell you from personal experience yet though.

The grip is bigger than an SP01 and smaller than an FNP45. It is more comfortable than an FNP45 too. candr44 phrased it well. It feels big in the hands, but not overly big. But to believe it, you have to try it yourself.

One thing to note in hanno's pic is how much more room there is to grip the slide of the 97 compared to the 75 series. It's GOT to have 20% more area in height.
