ok to shim rear sight on ruger p95?

Shoots low. I like the sights already on it and dont wanna spend $80 on adjustable sights.

Once verified by resting the gun that it is in fact the gun and not the trigger nut shooting low I'd suggest that a little careful filing down of the front sight would be easier.

Yup.

The front sight is easier to adjust and cheaper to replace if you screw it up.

Before you get out the file, how low, with what ammunition, at what distance and what sort of group sizes are you getting?

Shoots perfect for 3 dot combat style sighting but I prefer to shot 6 oclock. Various 115 grain ammo and 124grain bvac jhp

Ruger may have a taller rear sight available. I would call them first.

File the front sight. easy to do, i've done it countless times on fixed sight revolvers.
