diamond arms coach gun

my wife saw this coach gun and said "it,s cute" so i got it for her (real cheap).
i have heard they don't have of any collector value ,but will it be "safe" to shoot it one time if we have an intruder come visit?
i know nothing about these firearms ,my collection is all centerfire rifles mainly mausers.
as i said they are cheap and old but it would be reassuring to hear somebody say its o.k to shoot,,,,
sorry for being so undescriptive but i,m NOT shotgun savvy,
any info or warnings would be great.
thanks and have a great day
