Companies are spreading the rumor that price increases are coming. The rumors get spread around on forums like this. Some guys gobble it up like a bunch of old ladies. Then everybody "stocks up". This helps the retailers clear out the over-stock they accumulated at the end of the ObamaScare.

I'm low on bullets because it's been too cold to cast any. I have about 800lbs of wheel weights waiting to jump into the furnace.

Does anybody watch the prices of raw materials ?????

My guess is the manufacturers are scrambling to find competetive prices.

They are going up !!

No one around me is out of bullets.

In fact, most of them are starting to fill empty slots on the shelves (low-volume stuff that is usually harder to find, but became endangered/extinct during the mass hoarding).

I reload for some of my guns, not all of them. I have had no trouble finding ammo or reloading supplies either locally or online.

I'm not seeing any shortages of anything. I ordered 1k of .40 180gr from Montana Gold and my local has 100 piece boxes of .40 Hornady and CorBons of various weights and primers. Could be that the weather in your area has kept more people indoors and they're reloading more to fight the boredom. I know the more I'm stuck inside, the more time I spend at my press.

I don't know about you all, but I see real trouble on the horizon. Most of the bullet makers have already introduced "lead free" rounds, or are currently developing some. A backdoor ban on second hand lead exposure may be on the horizon......

There is no shortage around here. I can find anything I need either at Gander, but at the prices they charge, all of their employees should be wearing ski masks and pointing a gun at you!, or at Keystone which is my local indy' store. In addition, Natchez seems to have everything in abundance these days. Go on the net and give them a try. They have great prices, great customer service- the guys I order from always seem to be very knowlegable and freindly- and the stuff always arrives real quick.

That's a possibility, but not the topic of this thread; and by no means, justifies mass hoarding and reloading hysteria.

I used to buy direct from Zero and Magnus, but that's hopeless these days. Their websites perpetually show "Out of Stock" on every jacketed bullet that they make, with maybe 1 or 2 "low stock" exceptions. I finally just deleted them from my bookmarks. I'm sure that virtually 100% of their production goes to distributors such as Natchez and MidSouth.

70,000---------that's the number of 180gr .40s&w bullets I could cast right now on a quick estimate from the amount of alloy kicking around in the shop... Who is out again??

I don't shoot .40, but the two places I stopped into today, my LGS and a Dicks Sporting had a bunch of boxes of Speer. I, on the other hand had to pick up field hockey sticks for my grand niece.

Well, we could make a few bullets

We're sitting on 30 tons of our foundry alloy, so that's 2,100,000 200 grain bullets' worth. Another truckload will be arriving Tuesday with another 22 tons, so that would be another 1,540,000 bullets.

No shortage here, I believe!

Brad
