Mosin nagant question

I had bought a mosin nagant last year and i have been looking around at other and noticed something. The wood peace on the top of the barrel has a brass piece on it and i have not seen any else with it on it

The brass part on the top hand guard means it is an ex-dragoon rifle or possibly just a dragoon but its hard to tell with out pictures. Could you post some pictures of the gun?

The brass end caps were used in early production. Check this site, scroll down to M91/30 and Carbine end caps.
