Gas Checks

I've cast bullets for a number of years but have never used gas checks. I have a Lyman 450 lube/sizer and the gas check insert from Lyman for 45 Cal. I'm using the Lee C452-300-RF (90359) mold designed for gas checks. My question is, will the Hornady gas checks work with this combination or is there a better choice? I'm leaning towards Hornady because it seems the price is a bit better. If there is another choice out there that works well and is cheaper I'm all ears. Any other advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hornady works fine.
But Gator checks on the castboolits.gunloads.com site are as good or better, and way cheaper.
Talk to Blammer. I think he just got a big shipment in.

I use Hornady because I stocked up when the Klintons were in office. If anybody has Gator's email address I'd appreciate it.

Hey Nomadicone,

I used Hornady and Lyman gas checks for nearly 50 years, and they both worked equally well for me. In the past few years, however, I have been making my own gas checks with Freechex I and Freechex II tool sets I purchased on E-Bay from Charlie Darnall. My Freechex I tool sets make great gas checks from aluminum soda cans, and the Freechex II tool sets use aluminum flashing rolls which I cut into half inch strips. My tool sets are really slow compared to the Freechex III sets he is now selling, but I take my time making them in my recliner while watching TV. My aluminum checks are a lot cheaper than what it costs for factory gas checks these days.
