refinished revolvers in your collections...

I'm starting to get to the point that I probably don't "really" need to buy too many more guns, & over the last year I probably added more than 2 dozen top break pocket revolvers to my collection... some were in great shape, some not so much... some were good quality guns, some "suicide specials" but they all fit nicely into the collection...

some of these have become some of my favorite guns, & some IMO, deserve a facelift... I think I'm pretty close to sending a couple off to Fords Refinishing... I know HAMMER has had several done there, & his guns always look awesome...

so to help get me inspired, post some pics of vintage revolvers you've had refinished... a before & after pic would be great... who refinished the gun, & if you ever had any issues after refinishing

( for example, I have an old Hopkins & Allen top break 32 S&W that I bought knowing it was refinished, & who ever re-nickeled it plated alot of the internals, & the function is less than perfect pretty gritty, even after I flushed it out good )

probably my 1st to try refinishing, is a S&W 2nd model 38 S&W, that had no finish left, but also was not pitted at all, but functioned perfectly when I bought it... the muzzle of the standard length barrel was badly pitted, so I had it shortened to a snubbie, which cut out most all of the barrel pitting... this gun has become the gun I carry most often now... being that it's not original, but actually more functional, I think it's a good canidate for refinish

next will likely be a S&W 1.5 in 32 S&W... all original & in good mechanical shape, but a previous owner scratched his initials in the side of the frame

so... post some pics, list who did the work, & list any post refinish problems you encountered...

No picures but I did have a Ruger Vaquero hard chromed, the color case hardening was a **** poor job and faded badly. I wish I'd had the cylinder done in black ceracote but it looks fine as it is. Hard chrome is tough to beat.
