Rear Sight Loose on Springfield XD

The rear sight (non-adjustable) on my Springfield XD 9mm has worked loose. Although will not come completely out of the dovetail slot, it is free to move side to side about 1/8th inch. Is there a good adhesive etc. that will provide a "somewhat" permanent fix (don't want to epoxy it in place such that it can't be moved at all if necessary). Hate to send it back to the factory for such a minor problem.

Use a hardwood drift and tap the sight out. Cut a shim out of a soda or beer can to the same size as the base of the sight. The wall thickness is .004 to .0045 and one usually is enough, but you can try two.

An easier, and equally effective solution, is to use a center punch (nail set) and punch some divots in the bottom of the dovetail. While the center of the punch mark will be lower, the surrounding areas will be slightly raised. Do this several times and it will slightly raise the metal, snugging up the sight. Repeat until you find the sight snugged up. (Raising the bottom of the dovetail will push the sight up against the dovetail sides...)

Send it back to Springfield and let them fix it properly.
