Suppressor on XD

I am going to buy a Springfield Armory XD Subcompact in 9mm. I'd also like to add a suppressor to it, of course only after complying with all local and federal laws regarding possession, use, etc.

Does a threaded barrel require registration with BATFE, or just the suppressor? Is this design capable of being mated to a suppressor?

Thanks,

Ed

As 1911rocks says, the suppressor is the item registered with the BATFE in accordnce with the National Firearms Act.

I dont' see any reason why you couldn't use it a host for a suppressor. You could do one of two things: Get an aftermarket drop in barrel that's extended and threaded for a suppressor, 2) Send it to ADCO FIREARMS and they can thread the original barrel.

What they would most likely do for you is thread the barrel and make an adapter that would go on the threaded part of the barrel and extend past the slide so you can mount a suppressor to it. With the proper Nielson type device, it should work well.

You may want to drop them an email. I'll send you contact information via PM.

(I have no affiliation with this shop. They have done some barrel work for me in the past and have an excellent reputation with the ARFCOM group.)

You're welcome.

One more thing:

Sometimes their email will spam filter, and they'll appear not to answer you.

You might get a faster response if you post in this section of AR15.com
