An excellent source of information on the Winchester M-77 can be found at http:///www.rimfirecentral.com. There is a Winchester forum, a member named 22AGS is the resident Winchester M-77 expert.
The disassembly of the M-77 is tricky, I would talk to him before attempting it.

Winchester managed to make/sell some 217,000 Model 77 rifles, in both tube and detachable box magazine versions, from 1955-63.
