IT'S SO FLUFFY! (OK, so not fluffy...)
I just got my 25-5 in .45 Long from the gunshop. I bought it on gunbroker a couple of weeks ago.
It is INCREDIBLE! I seriously doubt if it has ever been shot. The dragline around the cylinder hasn't gone through the bluing, and the single and double action trigger pulls are exceptional. Even the grips don't appear to have been handled all that much. I almost hate to take this one out to the range, but it's got to be done. ![]() Standard Catalog says it was made in 1980. There are a couple of manufacturing oddities, including whomever was doing the polishing got the side of the topstrap uneven, but overall, it's exceptional.

Oh man, I got the jealouses... and I haven't even seen a photo of it yet! Yeah, I would shoot it too. One of my recent purchases was a 25-2 in .45ACP. And like yours, it has an oddity or two itself such as a 5 3/4" bbl. Man I want one in .45 Colt flavor!

A 4" M25-5 or 625 is on my "must have" list. I have the M1950 Target in .45ACP. It's persnickety about ammo. It leads up if you look at it wrong and I'm completely paranoid about scratching it loading & unloading moon clips. But yes, I shoot it.

Mike,
You of all people KNOW it didn't happen unless you post the pictures! ![]() Anyway, glad you like it so much. My 25-5 is my wedding and funeral gun. I carry it in a shoulder holster under my sport/suit coat. Isn't amazing how nice the actions are on some S&W revolvers? P.S. Hammer, I wish my mountain gun had the finish yours does! WOW!

Mr. Irwin, happiness on the great find. I've discovered a new appreciation for all things N frame in the back half of my life. Pictures would be great when you can.
Hammer It, as always what can I say, as always you are not to be outdone.

Well, let's hope that your 25 works better than your camera
.Seriously Mike, that gun will soon become the pride & joy of your collection. It has it all: Looks, balance, smooth action and accuracy, not to mention being a real pleasure to shoot (unless you have a cylinder full of hot Buffalo Bores )I have a 25-3, and it rose to the rank of #1 son the first time I shot it. By the way, not to make you sick or anything, but it got it, only fired once, for.... (drum roll please)... $300. with walnut case ![]() I've since swapped out the grips for a Hogue rosewood laminate with a walnut cap. A good friend of mine bought a 25-5 on Gunbroker, and honestly, other than the 25-3 being Smith's 125th Anniversary Commemorative, I can't see a difference between the two. What exactly is the difference anyway?
