Savage 24 Barrel
Greetings fm Washington!
Looking desperately for a Mdl 24 barrel. .22/anything will do. Seems someone has took a file to the breech end of the .22 barrel and the firing pin won't reach! thanks, John |

FWIW, a simple filing of the barrel face will not be related to the FP sriking/igniting the cartridge, since the rim is supported by the rim recess and not the bbl face.
Your M24 might have it's .22 FP tip broken off. . |

Assuming it is the barrel and not the firing pin, a cheap, effective and if done right accurate fix it put a barrel insert in the barrel and re-chamber it.
Basically amounts to drilling out the barrel with a special drill (sold by brownells), and gluing (I use Brownell's Accra Gel) or silver soldering in the barrel blank (after you cut it to length), Use a 22 LR Chamber reamer and crown the barrel (blank). I've done several and they turned out to be great shooters. Brownell's instructions say it can be done with a slow electric hand drill, but I like doing it on a lathe. GO SLOW AND USE LOTS OF CUTTING FLUID
