AK-74 vs Polish Tantal...?

AK-74 Bulgarian vs the Tantal- They're both 'AK's'...both 5.45, so besides the Tantal being Polish and having a side folding wire stock, and the 74 having black plastic furniture, what's the main differences?
I am AK ignorant- I've never had one nor do I know much about them, but I'm looking for one in the 5.45 round.

Well, one is made in Bulgarian, one is made in Poland

Typically, they are brought in as parts kits and put on US made receivers, with a few other US made parts thrown in to make them 922(r) compliant. The quality of the US parts, plus the quality of the assembly determines quality of the rifle, so you need to specify who the importer/assemblers of the particular rifles you are looking at are.

As for the guns themselves, they are both AK74 clones as far as I can tell. Some Bulgarian rifles come on milled receivers, not sure about the Polish rifles...
And the Polish Tantal, if I recall correctly, comes with an ambi-selector lever.

here's what I'm looking at:

Bulgarian:

I really like the price on the 'Bulgarian', but I'd rather have wood furniture- can wood be swapped onto it?

Polock:

and I saw WASR, From Romania:

also, I here a lot about 'Century' builds; something about drunk monkeys at the zoo could build a better rifle than them- are these 'Century' builds?

The Tantal is nothing more than a Polish version of the standard AK-74 with slight differences between the two.
Everybody assembles the rifles differently, so the major difference between the Bulgarian AK-74 and the Tantal is that the Tantal has a longer muzzle brake that can also be used as a grenade launcher.

The other difference is the Tantal has that odd-ball folding stock. Many shooters don't like the Tantal folder because it's hard to get a proper cheek "weld" on the stock and it's usually uncomfortable to shoot.

The Bulgarian rifles can be had with polymer stocks and handguards, or wood.
Parts for the Bulgarian are much easier to find if needed.

The Romanian WASR rifles are on the lower end of the AK quality scale and may have problems like canted sights or wobbly magazines.
These are built in Romania from used and sometimes second grade parts as single stack magazine rifles.
Once in the US, the importer converts them to double stack.
Quality of the conversion varies from good to bad.

Personally, given a choice, I'd buy a Bulgarian.

wobbly magazines

They are supposed to wobbly.

Romanian WASR review . On par in accuracy with AK's that cost a lot more.

Tantal has 3 different barrel twist rates...depends on the type of ammo you choose to shoot as to which twist rate you should pick.

The real deal Tantal, and some (but not all) of the American kit builds, also has a safety lever on the left side of the receiver as well as the standard AK lever on the right side. Not that great a selling feature -- my Krebs Tantal has one and it's difficult to manipulate and works backwards from an AR safety making it difficult to manipulate during up drills.
